Netflix R Kelly Docu-series – Netflix has picked up the streaming rights to the docu-series Surviving R. Kelly which released earlier in the year. Here’s what you need to know about the series, the streaming rights and the potential sequel series on the way too.
Netflix R Kelly docu-series covers the controversial topic of R. Kelly. Netflix isn’t shy in picking up and producing docu-series on controversial subjects. Spread across six parts, the series gathers testimony and recaps the events of the R. Kelly fiasco involving their allegations of abuse committed by him.
Netflix in the majority of regions are currently lined up to have the docu-series streaming including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
Not only will we be getting the original four-part season, it also includes the additional follow-up episodes that aired in May 2019 too.
Surviving R. Kelly Season 1 arrives on Netflix on September 15th. Also releasing on Netflix globally in September is a docu-series on Bill Gates and the second season of Vox’s Explained.
It’s not the first time Netflix has picked up a Lifetime series. Last year, Netflix picked up and is set to solely produce You going forward. The network is owned by A&E Networks who, more recently, have been focusing on non-scripted content like reality series and documentaries for its content lineup.
Hopefully, this means that more top series from the network makes their way to Netflix. Already we know that a Jeffrey Epstein series is in development.
